Walnut Blasting aka Intake Valve Cleaning

You may be asking yourself what is Walnut blasting or Intake Valve Cleaning? Walnut blasting or intake valve cleaning is a process to treat and remove heavy carbon build up from intake valves. How does carbon build up?In today’s modern direct injection systems, the fuel injectors are located directly in the combustion chamber allowing the air/fuel mixture to be optimized which results in increased fuel economy, power and response. However, due to the efficiency of direct injection technology, the fuel and the detergents the fuel contains bypass the backside of the intake valves and is unable to “wash” off any carbon deposits that may form. What happens to my vehicle if my intake valves have carbon build up?When a vehicle has carbon build up it is restricting the amount of air the vehicle can “breathe”. Essentially it is like suffocating your car. Some of the symptoms of carbon build up can be random engine misfire codes, check engine light on, vehicle feels sluggish, hard starts especially in cold temperatures, rough running, poor fuel economy and a loss of power that is gradual so may go unnoticed for some time. How does Walnut Blasting (Intake Valve Cleaning) work?To perform a walnut blasting, the intake manifold is removed to access the intake valve and blasted with crushed walnut shells and compressed air, removing the carbon build-up.The Benefits of Intake Cleaning:

  • Restores Engine Performance

  • Better Fuel Economy

  • Increases Engine Lifespan

  • Improves Cold Starts

  • Reduces Harmful Emissions
